Mr. de Beaufort Wijnholds appointed as permanent representative of the European Central Bank in Washington, D.C. with observer status at the International Monetary Fund

The Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) has appointed Mr. J. Onno de Beaufort Wijnholds as the ECB's permanent representative in Washington, D.C. with observer status at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Mr. de Beaufort Wijnholds will take up his duties on 1 January 2003. He will succeed Mr. Gerald Grisse, who has been called upon by the ECB Executive Board to become the Director General Administration of the ECB, in view of the retirement of Mr. Hanspeter Scheller, the current Director General Administration. Mr. Grisse will take up his duties at the ECB on 1 February 2003.

Mr. de Beaufort Wijnholds is currently elected Executive Director of the IMF. Before, Mr de Beaufort Wijnholds held several positions at De Nederlandsche Bank, his last position being Deputy Executive Director.
