- As of today, 722 staff members are now working at the new premises
- First wave of relocation was successfully completed over the weekend – further waves to follow over the next few weeks
With the first wave of the relocation successfully completed over the weekend, 722 people have now moved to the new premises of the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt’s Ostend district and are working in their new offices in the high-rise and the Grossmarkthalle.
In the coming weeks, other staff members will also move from their current premises in the city centre to the modern, sustainable building that has been built to meet the ECB’s specific requirements. The ECB launched the project in 1998 with the search for a suitable site in Frankfurt am Main. This search culminated in the ECB purchasing the site of the Grossmarkthalle and, thereby, making a commitment to preserve this listed building. The aim of the design by the Vienna-based architects COOP HIMMELB(L)AU was to create a unique ensemble of old and new. Converting the city’s former wholesale market hall and incorporating it into the design has made history part of the ECB, adding to the uniqueness of this landmark in Frankfurt’s Ostend.
The relocation is expected to be completed by the end of November.
