ECB appoints Roland Straub as Counsellor to the President
- Roland Straub to become Counsellor to the President and Co-ordinator of the Counsel to the Executive Board
- Appointment effective 1 February 2017
The Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) has appointed Roland Straub, currently Counsellor to the Executive Board, as Counsellor to the President and Co-ordinator of the Counsel to the Executive Board. Mr Straub takes up his new function on 1 February 2017.
Mr Straub, 42, has been with the ECB for 10 years. Before becoming Counsellor to Executive Board member Benoît Cœuré in May 2013, he worked in the Directorates General Research and International. Mr Straub previously worked at the International Monetary Fund as an economist. He holds a PhD in economics from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
Mr Straub succeeds Frank Smets, who takes up the role of Director General Economics on 1 February 2017.
