ECB Monthly Bulletin
The European Central Bank (ECB) will publish its first Monthly Bulletin this week. This ECB publication will become one of the main tools used to analyse economic developments in the euro area and to explain the monetary policy of the ECB. The statistical part of the Monthly Bulletin will develop into one of the key sources of euro area-wide statistics. This first issue of the Monthly Bulletin will include the following:
- the ECB's assessment of the economic situation in the euro area;
- the key features of the large market having adopted the single currency;
- an extensive explanation of the monetary policy strategy of the Eurosystem; and
- the definition of the Eurosystem.
The Monthly Bulletin has been prepared by the ECB and will be made available in the national languages by the respective national central banks. The publication will be available on the ECB's Web site (http://www.ecb.europa.eu) from 7 p.m. ECB time (C.E.T.) on Tuesday, 19 January 1999. Copies of the commercially printed version can be ordered free of charge from the ECB's Press Division (Fax: +49 69 1344 7404) and will be available from 22 January 1999 onwards. An advance copy of the Monthly Bulletin will be released only to the press today; the embargo for publication will be 7 p.m. on Tuesday, 19 January 1999.
